Itinerary, Walking & Bus Rides

While we will of course be on our feet when touring all breweries, this is, relatively speaking, one of our least physically-challenging trips. Extended walking will mainly be confined to Brussels May 12 (optional bar crawl), 16 and especially the 17th (when we have three ca 20-minute walks). If you prefer not to do the longer walks, taxis are readily available in Brussels (to be paid separately by guests).

We will have a private bus Monday-Thursday and most of our drives will be under an hour — the longest expected to be about 90 minutes. The bus may or may not have a toilet; TBD! If you are, or are traveling with, a person with a disability, please discuss with us in advance.

Food & Drink

Breakfast is included in all hotels and we strongly encourage you to take advantage of it. Monday-Friday we offer complimentary lunch and / or dinner as specified. These are a mix of casual charcuterie buffets, sandwich boards, a food truck (at breweries) and more formal meals — unsurprisingly, all of quite good quality, and filling. There are always vegetarian options, but vegan selections cannot ever be guaranteed.

Complimentary set amounts (specified in advance each day) of beer, wine (when available) or soft drinks are offered with included meals; liquors and cocktails will be at guests’ expense. Varying amounts of beer are included on brewery tours, depending on venue (please note that we are not an all-you-can-drink tour, and we encourage / expect moderation in alcohol consumption during tour hours!). There will be plenty of time and easy access to restaurants for meals not included in the tour, and we offer info on options in each city. We also encourage you to pack small snacks for long tour days, and suggest bringing a refillable water bottle.

Hotels & Locations

In all three cities we opt for mid-priced, clean and friendly 3-4 Star hotels, in great locations. Guests will be near bars, restaurants and sites in all cases, and we provide handy printed / digital guides for extra-curricular eating & drinking in each city. Of our three hotels, Atlas in Brussels is the most modest/functional, but its central location is unbeatable.

Weather & What to Bring

May is always unpredictable, so we strongly recommend checking the forecast last-minute before flying. It will always be advisable to bring a jacket that’s usable in rainy weather, and / or to pack an umbrella. The most important item will be comfortable walking shoes, as we’ll be on our feet a lot and will be visiting working breweries with potentially wet and uneven floors. Temperatures will vary but expect to need some cool weather gear, particularly in the evenings. All of our meals will be in fairly casual settings except for the optional dinner at Les Brigittines in Brussels on the last night of the tour. Nice shirts, as opposed to brewery tees, are strongly recommended for this occasion.
